Assalamualaikum and salam sejahtera,

I am currently able to take in a few more graduate students in the area of Brain Sciences specifically relating to neurocognitive reserve, memory and learning.

The candidate should be interested and able to work in any of the following areas:

  1. Assessment of neurocognitive reserve in animals using the Morris Water Maze, microdialysis and electrophysiologica l measurements in rat brain.

  1. Neurogenetics and neuropharmacology of the dopaminergic and serotoninergic system in transgenic mice that overexpress for dopamine.

  1. Assessment of neurocognitive reserve in humans via BIS analysis and the EEG-ERP high density polygraphic system

  1. Assessment of neurocognitive reserve in primary school children
    1. visual literacy [ or any of the other intelligences]
    2. brain-based design in the classroom

Please note that the above represent areas of research only. Specific topics can be discussed later if you are interested in doing graduate work in these areas.

If you are interested, please contact me via email or via my office tel number : 09-7663801.

Do not be too worried about your CGPA. Please come and talk to me first. While I would like to have students with CGPA of 3.5 and above, experience has taught me that often the CGPA does not reflect the research potential of a graduate student. If your CGPA is not less than 2.7, there are still opportunities for graduate work.

Thank you.

Prof Dr. Zalina Ismail
